Since 1902 the most legendary Herring Feast in Vienna takes place on Ash Wednesday at the Handwerk Restaurant. Welcome!
This year, you can expect on February 18, 2026 a top-class Herring Feast at the Handwerk Restaurant. The evening will begin with an
exclusive oyster, caviar & champagne bar : Right at the start, an exquisite selection of oysters, finest caviar varieties, and sparkling champagne will provide
special moments of enjoyment.
Afterwards, we invite you to the adjacent Handwerk Restaurant, where our chefs Deniz Neverov and Dominik Cvitkovits, together with their team, will skillfully pull all culinary strings and present delicacies from river and sea. The traditional herring salads in classic and trendy variations will, of course, again be the focus of the Herring Feast buffet this year.
These will be accompanied by smoked noble fish, exquisite lobster bisque, clear fish consommé, as well as truffled parsnip soup, up to Mediterranean creations with noble fish such as sea bass and monkfish.For those who prefer meat, there is duck breast “Royale” or veal medallions Milanese style. Vegetarian highlights and homemade pasta are also part of the offer, as well as a selection of salads. The sweet conclusion is a heavenly dessert buffet from the in-house patisserie.
